Stephen's depth of feeling, intelligence and the emotional content of his work, make doing one of his shows a most rewarding experience. I was fortunate
to work with an incredibly talented cast and crew, and each performance was a chance to impart the beauty of his work to audiences across the country. I never had the chance
to meet Mr. Sondheim, but I've always wanted to tell him just how much I enjoy the depth of his work, and to thank him for giving us such wonderful music and lyrics to not
only listen to, but, as performers, to "sink our teeth into" as it were.
I look forward to the day when I can work in another Sondheim show, and my dream would be to work
on a totally new piece with him, and perhaps even to have a role written with me in mind! (Big dreams, I know, but that's what keeps us alive, right?) Keep on Writing, Steve-
and, as Dot says in Sunday In The Park... - "Give us More to see".
Sunday In Park With George: An Actors View
- By Steven Garrett Wright
I had the great pleasure of performing the role of "Jules" in a national tour of Sunday In The Park with George a few years ago, and it made an indelible impression on me.
Working on his material is a fascinating experience, and an emotional one. Not since "The Secret Garden" and "Man Of La Mancha" have I been so touched by the material I
was performing.
