The 2002 Broadway revival of Into the Woods opened at the Broadhurst Theatre on April 30,2002 and closed on December 29, 2002. What follows are some of the changes to the original production:

When the show starts 3 large fairy tale books are displayed: Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and The Baker and His Wife, they turn and their characters appear. At the Finale a large book entitled Into The Woods is presented and all the characters walk into it.

The song Our Little World is added (from the London Production)

The narrator is integrated more fully into the plot and is more comical.

The cow is now portrayed by an actor in costume.

A great deal of dance has been added.

The Three little pigs make a brief appearance.

There are 2 Wolves.

"Hello Little Girl" is now a duet.

Snow White and Sleeping Beauty have been removed.

Cinderella's birds are now puppets held by the Narrator.

Judi Dench is the voice of the Giant.

The giant is a projection, silhouetting the woods.

When the Narrator introduces Cinderella, during the Second Midnight he exclaims "now slightly tipsy..."

The lyrics to Last Midnight have been revised, There are also some minor changes to the orchestrations of the score.
