The 2003 revival of Gypsy went into previews on March 31, at The Shubert Theatre on West 44th street, and opened on Broadway on May 1, 2003. It closed on May 30,2004 after 451 performances. Bernadette Peters played Rose and John Dossett played Herbie.

The last Broadway mounting of Gypsy took place in 1989. That production won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical and it's star Tyne Daly took the Tony Award for Best Actress.
