Assassins
And they didn't give a nickel... The American dream as seen through some very different people. "When we started to look into the lives of the assassins, we found they were fascinating people, so it had character, too. Had is just been a political tract, I wouldn't have wanted to do it. One of my objections to Brecht is that he always put the politics at the forefront and the character to the rear. What I hope we've done with Assassins is put the character at the forefront, with all the political and social implications around them." -Stephen Sondheim. Bounce
Bounce
"...a little background about the Mizners themselves. Addison Mizner (1872-1933) and Wilson Mizner (1876-1933) were brothers who, although they played only a minor role in the cultural history of this country, might well be seen (at least by John and me) to represent two divergent aspects of American energy: the builder and the squanderer..." Into The Woods
Fractured fairy tales, and a really fierce witch. Not to mention wolves, and humans too. Act one of Into The Woods is the retelling of several fairy tales by blending them with an original tale; A childless baker and his wife, who yearn to have children, must first remove the curse that stands in their way. Once that is accomplished they can all live happily ever after or can they?...And don't forget Today's Quote brought to you by
